Welcome to the Village of Elmwood Place!

A northern suburb of Cincinnati with the advantages of a small town in the Greater Cincinnati area. It is a 118 year-old community with 2,600 residents. Conveniently located 15 minutes from downtown, west of I-75 in the Millcreek Valley. It is surrounded by the city of Cincinnati neighborhoods of Winton Place (west), Carthage (north), and Bond Hill (east), and the City of St. Bernard in the south.

The village is a walk able community with a neighborhood business district, a library, places of worship and parks to play.

We are developing a historical picture gallery. Click here for a preview.

Our Web connection has been down for some time due to technical problems. We are up and running again and hopefully our problems are behind us.

We very much appreciate your co-operation during the snow problems we have been having. We did the best we could under very demanding circumstances. We only have two maintenance men at this time and they have been doing an excellent job all things considered.

As you all know the country as a whole and individuals in particular are facing some difficult economic times. This also applies to your village. We have always tried to manage your money honestly and efficiently. That policy will continue during these fragile economic days. We will live within our means and do whatever we have to do to keep our heads above water.
We have recently purchased two police cruisers. Some may question the wisdom of making these purchases at this time.
The fact is we needed new cruisers because our old ones are  getting to the stage where they will be giving us less and
less service. The bulk of the expense for new cruisers will come from the Police levy that was passed with the intent to provide the necessary funds to maintain a working police department.
Funds from this levy must be used for police department expenses and cannot be used for any other reason.
The fact remains be it good times or bad protection for the village must continued and we will do that as economically as possible.
Those of us who are old enough to remember the Great Depression have a guide to measure what is happening today.
I would council you to not give up on America. Do not take the attitude so commonly presented in the press  and by self promoting  Politicians that the world is coming to an end. We have faced hard times before and we can face them again.

Next Mayor's Court will be Monday February 23rd at 5:30pm in the Town Hall

Next Council meeting will be Tuesday March 10th at 7:00pm in the Town Hall

The Village dedicated our new Storm Water Garden & Park at Township and Vine Thursday October 23rd. Children from  the Elmwood Place
Elementary School participated in planting numerous plants. The school Superintendent and Elmwood Place Elementary Principal along  with the Mayor , a representative of The Bishoff Foundation( which provided a grant to help with expenses) representatives from the  Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission  and the Mill Creek Watershed Commission were also present .

The village currently has in operation a telephone system that allows us to contact all Cincinnati Bell Telephone customers in the village in a reasonably short period of time. This can be used for general information announcements, school events, emergencies, and other situations that may come up. Many of you are already aware of this operation having received several messages previously sent by the  Mayor. For those of you who have not been involved in this program let me give you a few hints as to what to expect.
There will be a short pause when you first pick up  the phone so do not hang up. Wait just  a second or two and the recorded message will begin.
If you are not there to respond to the call the message will be left on your answering machine
if you have one. If you are not receiving these messages your phone number is not on the master list we use for the recorded messages. If you want to be included on our list call the town hall and give us your phone number and it will be added to our list. Call 242-0563
